Mayor Bowser Delivers First Housing and Homeownership Opportunities at Reservoir District on Former McMillan Site
Mayor Muriel Bowser inaugurated the Reservoir District Townhomes in Ward 5, which includes 146 homes, 22 of which are affordable. This project is part of the larger redevelopment of the former McMillan Sand Filtration Site, now featuring recreational facilities and a 6. 2-acre park. Bowser stated that the site symbolizes the administration's efforts to transform underutilized land into productive spaces for residents. The development, a public-private partnership with Vision McMillan Partners, includes contributions from EYA, Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners, and Trammell Crow Company.
Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie expressed pride in the project, emphasizing its decades-long development and alignment with community values. The townhomes' design incorporates elements that reflect the site's historical significance. This initiative supports Bowser's commitment to enhancing affordable housing in DC, with a budget focused on housing development. The Reservoir District also announced a summer event series to foster community engagement and celebration.
