Mayor Bowser Highlights Free, Safe and Fun Summer Opportunities for DC Youth, Encourages Families to Stay Cool During Extreme Heat

With the current Extreme Heat Alert, families are encouraged to prioritize safety while participating in outdoor activities. The District launched the Out of School Time DC portal to streamline the registration process, which has already seen significant usage. Deputy Mayor for Education Paul Kihn emphasized the importance of providing accessible opportunities for youth across neighborhoods. Thousands of free program slots are available through partnerships with DCPS, DPR, and the DC Public Library. Additional activities include fitness classes, field trips, and evening programs for teens, ensuring a well-rounded summer experience.
