Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that free summer programs for youth in Washington, DC, are still open for registration, featuring a variety of activities. These include STEM camps, library events, and the Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program, all designed to enrich the summer experience for children and teens. The current Extreme Heat Alert prompts families to prioritize safety while enjoying these opportunities. To facilitate access, the District launched the Out of School Time DC (MOST-DC) portal, allowing parents to easily find and register for programs based on various criteria.

Thousands of program slots are still available, with support from local agencies, including DC Public Schools and the Department of Parks and Recreation. Deputy Mayor for Education Paul Kihn emphasized the importance of making opportunities accessible to all students. Specific programs include DCPS Middle School Summer Learning and the Junior Lifeguard Academy. The summer offerings aim to foster growth, learning, and community connection among the District's youth.
