Mayor Bowser Highlights Free, Safe and Fun Summer Opportunities for DC Youth, Encourages Families to Stay Cool During Extreme Heat
Mayor Muriel Bowser announced a plethora of free summer programs available for District youth, urging families to register for activities that remain open. The offerings include STEM camps, library events, and evening hangouts designed to enrich the summer experience. To facilitate the process, the District launched the Out of School Time DC (MOST-DC) portal, enabling parents to easily find and register for programs. Deputy Mayor for Education Paul Kihn emphasized the effort to make opportunities accessible to all students, highlighting the importance of community engagement. Currently, the District is under an Extreme Heat Alert, prompting officials to remind families to stay safe and hydrated.
Thousands of slots are still available to ensure young people have a productive and enjoyable summer. Families can also explore additional activities through the Department of Parks and Recreation. This initiative underscores the city's commitment to providing enriching experiences that foster growth and connection among youth.
