Amid the ongoing Extreme Heat Alert, families are encouraged to prioritize safety and utilize available cooling resources, including pools and spray parks. Programs such as the DCPS Middle School Summer Learning and the Junior Lifeguard Academy provide engaging experiences for children and teens. Additionally, the DC Public Library offers numerous events throughout the summer, ensuring a wide range of activities. These initiatives reflect the District's commitment to providing enriching summer experiences while prioritizing the welfare of its youth.
