Ex-CIA officer gets 30 years in prison for drugging, sexually abusing dozens of women

Visalia, CALocal News

Brian Jeffrey Raymond, a 48-year-old former CIA officer, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for drugging and sexually abusing numerous women over a 14-year period. The offenses occurred both in the United States and while Raymond was stationed at the U. S. Embassy in Mexico City between 2018 and 2020. In his plea agreement, he admitted to drugging and engaging in nonconsensual sexual acts with at least 38 women, creating explicit materials without their consent.

Evidence collected during the investigation, including recordings, showed Raymond assaulting victims while they were unconscious. The FBI highlighted the importance of the victims' bravery in coming forward, which led to Raymond's conviction. Assistant Director David Sundberg noted the profound betrayal of trust by Raymond, who exploited his role as a U. S. government representative.

This case underscores the critical need for accountability and justice for victims of such heinous crimes. The sentencing reflects a commitment to addressing sexual abuse, particularly in positions of authority.
