Pedestrian hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being hit by car outside crosswalk in Vancouver

A pedestrian was critically injured in a car accident in Vancouver, Wash. , on January 28, 2025. The incident occurred around 7:15 p. m. at the intersection of Southeast 117th Avenue and Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard, as the pedestrian crossed mid-block, approximately 10 feet from the nearest crosswalk and against the walk signal.

Vancouver Police reported that the driver, who was traveling east in the lane closest to the divider, stopped and remained on the scene without any signs of impairment. The pedestrian was promptly transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, although neither the driver nor the pedestrian has been publicly identified. This incident has emerged as a point of concern, as it marks the third serious injury or fatality this year involving pedestrians struck by vehicles in Vancouver.
