Portland edition of Monopoly in the works

Vancouver, WALocal News

Top Trumps USA is in the process of developing a Portland edition of the iconic board game Monopoly, following their successful customizations for other North American cities. This initiative has been made possible through a licensing agreement with Hasbro, the game's owner, and aims to celebrate Portland’s unique cultural identity. Community involvement is a key aspect of the project, as residents and visitors are invited to submit suggestions for local landmarks and attractions until March 21. The classic Monopoly board will be transformed, with traditional spaces like Boardwalk and Park Place being replaced by representations of Portland's favorite spots, alongside tailored Chance and Community Chest cards. Furthermore, a limited number of spaces will be allocated for local businesses, although the criteria for their selection has yet to be clarified.

Top Trumps representative Aaron Green expressed excitement about capturing Portland’s “weirdness” and vibrancy in the game. The Monopoly: Portland Edition is anticipated to be available in stores in the fall of 2025, offering a unique way for fans of the city to engage with their community. This special edition aims to blend traditional gameplay with local flavor, making it a highly anticipated release for Portland residents.
