Karen Spence, a 64-year-old former leader of the Girl Guides of Canada, has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault and sexual exploitation stemming from incidents reported between 1998 and 2002. The investigation began in March 2025 when a victim disclosed details of the abuse that occurred while they were under 16 years old. Spence, who was 38 when the alleged offenses began, worked as a Sparks and Pathfinders leader in the Georgina area from 1995 to 2001. She also served as a youth hockey coach and referee, indicating her active involvement in community youth activities. Police arrested her on April 21, 2025, and are releasing her photo to identify potential additional victims.
