Signs of the Times

University Place, WALocal News

As garage sale season unfolds in University Place, residents must adhere to the city's regulations regarding signage to avoid penalties. Signs can only be posted after 5 p. m. the day before the sale and must be removed promptly after the event. Each sign should include the date of the sale and the address, ensuring clarity for potential shoppers.

The city prohibits placement on public property, including utility poles and street signs, to maintain safety and visibility. These regulations serve to keep the community visually appealing and safe for all. Furthermore, signs cannot be displayed for more than three consecutive days within a 30-day period. City officials emphasize the importance of these rules in preventing clutter and enhancing the experience for pedestrians and drivers alike. Compliance not only benefits individual sellers but also contributes to a cleaner, more organized community.
