Suspect arrested after shooting a victim through a door in University Place

On June 22, 2022, a shooting in University Place, Washington, led to the arrest of a 23-year-old male suspect who allegedly shot a 22-year-old victim through an apartment door. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspect knocked on the victim's door looking for someone before opening fire when the victim answered. Authorities responded promptly, with deputies already in the vicinity due to another disturbance, allowing them to locate the injured victim quickly. He was found outside an apartment complex and was rushed to the hospital due to the severity of his injuries. The suspect was identified and taken into custody by Tacoma police based on probable cause.

He was later interviewed by detectives and charged with first-degree assault, highlighting a troubling trend in local crime rates.
