Act Now: Free Smoke Alarm Installation from Tampa Fire Rescue

Tampa Bay, FLLocal News

In anticipation of Fire Prevention Week 2024, Tampa Fire Rescue is set to assist residents with free smoke alarm installations from October 6-12. This year’s theme, "Smoke Alarms: Make them work for you," underscores the critical role of functioning smoke alarms in home safety. The initiative is a collaborative effort with the American Red Cross of Central Florida, aiming to raise awareness and provide direct support to the community. Residents can register for installations until October 1, 2024, on the Tampa Fire Rescue website, with a detailed schedule for different neighborhoods throughout the week. Fire Chief Barbara Tripp noted the commitment to promoting fire safety year-round and emphasized the importance of community involvement.

Mayor Jane Castor echoed this sentiment, stressing the shared responsibility of ensuring that all Tampa homes are equipped with operational smoke alarms. Additionally, Tampa Fire Rescue plans to host community events and educational programs in schools to further promote fire safety. This proactive approach aims to enhance safety and awareness within the Tampa community.
