New Dawn Electric in Manatee County is transforming the landscape for high school graduates by offering apprenticeships that include educational funding. Joseph Berloni, a dedicated apprentice, shares his passion for learning and the practical experience he gains while working full-time. The company currently hires three graduates each year for its program and hopes to expand this number in response to increasing demand. Manatee Technical College has experienced a 25% rise in overall enrollment, with a staggering 140% increase in its electrician apprenticeship program, reflecting a growing interest in trade careers. Berloni, who graduated from Braden River High School, is taking night classes to enhance his skills and plans to complete his program by 2028.

His ambition is to eventually establish his own electrical company, mirroring the supportive model of New Dawn Electric. This initiative not only addresses the critical shortage of skilled workers but also empowers young individuals to pursue fulfilling careers in the trades. As the demand for electricians continues to rise, programs like these play a crucial role in shaping the future workforce.
