City of Tampa Leads Successful River Clean-Up at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park

The City of Tampa, in partnership with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, successfully hosted the fourth annual Trash Free Waters Dive Crew Day at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. This collaborative clean-up event took place from 9:30 a. m. to 11:30 a. m.

, attracting divers and volunteers dedicated to preserving the Hillsborough River. The multi-agency effort included support from the Tampa Police Department Marine Unit, Tampa Fire Rescue, and various local organizations. Initially targeting electric scooters, the clean-up unveiled a surprising array of litter, including bicycles, lawn furniture, and traffic cones. Mayor Jane Castor commended the collective dedication to maintaining the city’s natural beauty, stating, “Thanks to the incredible teamwork of our city departments, partnering organizations, and dedicated volunteers, we’re making a real difference. ” This initiative not only enhances the local environment but also promotes community engagement and awareness.
