Woman arrested in Sarasota hit-and-run crash that killed 2 kids, critically injured mother Police

In a tragic hit-and-run incident in Sarasota on February 10, a woman named June Fenton was arrested after her Lexus struck two young children, a 2-year-old and a 5-month-old, leading to their deaths and leaving their mother critically injured. The children were in a stroller and being carried by their mother when the vehicle hit them around 8:30 p. m. Following the crash, Fenton fled the scene, failing to render aid or contact emergency services, which raised concerns in the community. The Sarasota Police Department launched a thorough investigation involving traffic homicide investigators and intelligence units, which culminated in the recovery of the vehicle and the execution of a search warrant that linked Fenton to the crime.

Fenton cooperated with authorities during the investigation and was subsequently charged with two counts of leaving the scene of a crash that resulted in fatalities, along with one count of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in serious injury. Police Chief Rex Troche acknowledged the impact of the incident on the community and expressed gratitude for the public's patience during the investigation. Fenton is currently being held at the Sarasota County Jail. This heartbreaking case has drawn significant local attention, highlighting the tragic consequences of reckless driving.
