Tampa’s Margaritaville at Sea will be first cruise to allow dogs onboard

Tampa Bay, FLLocal News

Tampa’s Margaritaville at Sea is pioneering a new trend in the cruise industry by offering the first dog-friendly cruise, allowing families to board with their furry companions. Set to commence in late 2025, the cruise will accommodate up to 250 dogs, each requiring approval based on vaccination status. Guests will enjoy a variety of pet-centric amenities, including dedicated pet butlers, private relief stations on room balconies, and a series of engaging activities like dog shows and costume contests. While dogs must be leashed in public areas, they are prohibited from dining venues, pools, and casinos to ensure a pleasant experience for all guests. The collaboration between Margaritaville and Expedia Cruises of West Orlando aims to create a unique travel experience that celebrates dogs as family members.

With the initial opening week attracting more than 5,000 applications, demand for this innovative cruise is already soaring. Captain Steve Matzke expressed excitement over the overwhelming enthusiasm and the unique memories families can create on this cruise. The event promises not only relaxation but also features like dog groomers, themed parties, and even puppy massages, appealing to pet owners looking for a special getaway.
