Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital to undergo $62 million expansion

Tampa Bay, FLLocal News

Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, is embarking on a significant expansion project, investing $62 million to construct a new 28,000-square-foot facility adjacent to its existing emergency center. Scheduled for completion by July 2026, the new facility will enhance the hospital's ability to cater to pediatric patients' complex surgical needs and address the growing demands of the region. The expansion will introduce six flexible emergency center rooms designed specifically for children, alongside the hospital's four largest operating suites. Chief Operating Officer Justin Olsen articulated the hospital's ambition to be the Southeast's premier children's hospital through innovative growth and the introduction of cutting-edge services.

The project will also expand the hospital's imaging facilities by relocating a third MRI scanner into the new building, allowing for more comprehensive diagnostic capabilities across all patient ages. This development is particularly significant as it marks the hospital's first substantial expansion since the completion of its research and education building in 2018. The move reflects the hospital's commitment to advancing pediatric healthcare and improving patient care quality in the region. As the hospital continues to grow, it aims to provide state-of-the-art medical services that meet the unique needs of its young patients.
