New and Updated Aid Programs Offer Funds for Business Owners Still Reeling from Storms

Tampa Bay, FLLocal News

In response to ongoing recovery needs from Hurricanes Milton and Helene, the City of Tampa has announced new financial aid programs aimed at supporting local business owners. The U. S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, collaborating with American Express, has introduced a grant program that allocates $5 million to provide $5,000 grants for 1,000 eligible small businesses located in SBA disaster-declared counties. Furthermore, the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program has been expanded to offer 24 months of interest-free loans, giving businesses critical working capital to bridge the gap in recovery.

Self-employed individuals in Florida can also benefit from FEMA assistance, which helps replace necessary tools and equipment impacted by the hurricanes. The application deadline for the grant program is November 17, 2024, encouraging timely participation. These initiatives reflect a strong community effort to bolster resilience and support economic recovery in the wake of natural disasters. By addressing the financial strains faced by local businesses, Tampa aims to foster a quicker recovery and promote long-term stability. These aid programs stand as a testament to the city's commitment to its business community during times of crisis.
