Hillsborough deputy killed in crash on US 301 in Thonotosassa

In a heartbreaking incident, Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputy Darrell Brown was killed in a crash on U. S. 301 in Thonotosassa on Thursday morning. The 40-year-old deputy was driving his personal Ford F-150 pickup when he crossed the center line into the path of a southbound flatbed semitrailer at around 7:50 a. m.

Despite the semitrailer driver's efforts to brake, the collision was unavoidable, resulting in Deputy Brown’s tragic death. Sheriff Chad Chronister expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting Deputy Brown's commitment to serving the community. The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash to uncover the reasons behind Deputy Brown's lane violation. As the investigation unfolds, the community is left to grapple with the loss of a dedicated officer who served the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
