At the time of the incident, Brown was returning home from an overnight shift at the Orient Road Jail when his vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and struck a tractor-trailer. Sheriff Chad Chronister detailed the circumstances surrounding the crash, emphasizing the skid marks that indicate the truck driver attempted to brake and avoid the collision.

Sadly, Brown was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a wife and five children. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated law enforcement officer who served the sheriff's office for ten years.
