Tampa Solid Waste Collection Schedule Update

Tampa Bay, FLLocal News

Following the impacts of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the City of Tampa has revised its solid waste collection schedule due to unprecedented storm debris levels. Starting Friday, October 18, 2024, residential recycling services will be suspended, with a planned resumption on October 21, 2024, while garbage collection continues as normal. The Department of Solid Waste emphasizes the importance of adhering to specific curbside disposal guidelines for storm debris to facilitate efficient collection. Residents are instructed to separate damaged household items from vegetative debris and place them three feet away from obstructions. For additional convenience, the city has set up self-disposal options at the McKay Bay Disposal Complex for various types of debris.

Free drop-off sites for vegetative storm debris are also available at several local parks. The city encourages residents to utilize the Tampa Trash and Recycling app for real-time service updates and further information. For questions, residents can reach out to the City of Tampa Utilities Call Center.
