The accident happened around 2:46 a. m. as the driver, a 27-year-old male, exited a shopping plaza located at the intersection of Howard Avenue and Horatio Street. Investigators reported that the driver failed to stop before entering the roadway, leading to the collision with a 35-year-old pedestrian who was standing near the edge.

The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead at a local hospital. The driver remained at the scene, and Tampa Police stated that the investigation remains active. Further charges will be determined based on the investigation's findings.
