Tampa Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Accident at Hillsborough Ave. and Lois Ave.

The Tampa Police Department is currently investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on October 28, 2024, at 6:57 am near the intersection of W. Hillsborough Ave. and N. Lois Ave. The victim, an Hispanic male in his mid-50s, was critically injured while crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk and was subsequently transported to a local hospital.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The driver of the white Ford F350 that struck him was turning eastbound onto Hillsborough Ave. and remained on the scene, fully cooperating with police officers. Initial investigations indicate that speed does not appear to be a contributing factor, and no criminal charges are anticipated at this time. The eastbound lanes of W.

Hillsborough Ave. were temporarily closed for investigation purposes, but have since reopened to traffic. Next of kin notification regarding the deceased is still pending.
