S. Marine Dominic Yacca and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Officer Specialist Kelsey Dalton received accolades for their bravery in saving a man trapped in his submerged vehicle. The incident unfolded on a foggy and rainy night near Pop's Sunset Grill in Nokomis when Yacca heard an announcement about a vehicle in distress. Without hesitation, he rushed to the scene, where he found Officer Dalton already on duty. Together, they plunged into the turbulent waters to reach Eric Peterson, who was in dire need of help.

Their quick thinking and collaborative efforts were pivotal in ensuring Peterson's survival.
