Parks and Rec Opens Day Camp Wednesday

On October 16, 2024, the City of Tampa will launch "School’s Out, Camp’s In," a free day camp for children aged 5-17, operating from 7:30 a. m. to 6 p. m. at 21 recreation centers.

This initiative is critical as many parents return to work while schools remain closed, making it a timely solution for families in need of childcare. Children must arrive by 10 a. m. and will be supervised throughout the day, with lunch provided. The Parks and Recreation Department encourages parents to pack snacks and a refillable water bottle for their children.

Director Tony Mulkey highlighted the challenges families are facing and stressed the importance of this program in providing support.
