Enhancements coming soon to The Nature Park at Bobby Jones

Tampa Bay, FLLocal News

Sarasota City Commissioners have unveiled plans for significant enhancements to the Nature Park at Bobby Jones, set to include a new boardwalk and expanded trails. The park occupies nearly 90 acres and plays a vital role in stormwater management, filtering runoff before it enters Sarasota Bay. Jerry Fogle, the Director of Parks and Recreation, stated that the project will add 4,000 trees and a micro-forest to enhance the park's ecological benefits. Local resident Jim Walker shared his fond memories of the park and expressed excitement about the new nature trails. The enhancements aim to provide recreational opportunities for residents while supporting local wildlife.

This green space is among the last large natural areas close to downtown Sarasota, making it uniquely valuable. The city envisions a tranquil environment that will serve future generations. Construction is scheduled to begin early next year, marking a significant step in preserving and enhancing this local treasure.
