Humane Society of Sarasota County surpasses goal during mega adoption event

Tampa Bay, FLLocal News

The Humane Society of Sarasota County exceeded its adoption goal during the Petco Love Florida Mega Adoption event, achieving 105 adoptions in just two days. Heather Howard, a representative of the Humane Society, emphasized that the organization's mission is to transform Florida into a no-kill state by increasing adoptions. Each adopted animal allows the shelter to rescue at-risk animals from surrounding counties, including DeSoto, Highlands, and Hardee. The event attracted many visitors who not only adopted but also supported the cause by checking out the animals. After surpassing their initial goal, the Humane Society set a new target of 130 adoptions, reflecting their commitment to saving lives.

Howard expressed gratitude for the community's support and enthusiasm. The organization continues to seek homes for animals and encourages monetary and food donations, along with volunteer assistance. This initiative underscores the importance of community involvement in local animal welfare efforts.
