10-year anniversary of the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay

The 10th anniversary of the U. S. Open at Chambers Bay Golf Course celebrated the iconic event that first brought the championship to the Pacific Northwest. Former Pierce County Executive John Ladenburg, who proposed the anniversary, expressed gratitude for the economic impact, with the 2015 tournament generating $150 million for the local economy. Attendees shared their experiences from the championship, including a special video message from caddie Michael Greller, who praised the course.

Emcee Travis Buell remarked on Chambers Bay's evolution into a community destination beyond golf. A video presentation highlighted logistical successes, such as accommodating 18,000 spectators and donating 70,000 pounds of food to local charities. The Ladenburgs are actively seeking to host the U. S. Women’s Open at Chambers Bay in the future.

Architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. was present to commemorate the anniversary, having designed the course that has become a top-ranked golfing destination. The event underscored the lasting legacy of the U. S. Open in Pierce County and its potential for future tournaments.
