STAR Center hosts new cultural festival

The Chamorro Day Festival 2025 will debut at the STAR Center in Tacoma, celebrating Chamorro culture through food, music, and dance. Organized by Guma’ Imahe, the festival is free and aims to engage families and individuals of all ages. Joel Larimer, the founder of Guma’ Imahe, highlights its importance in unifying the Chamorro community and sharing cultural traditions with the broader public. The festival will feature performances from renowned Chamorro artists Jesse Bais and Ruby Santos, who will perform a free concert at the event's conclusion. In addition, attendees can explore 76 vendor booths offering diverse food options and interactive workshops, including Chamorro genealogy sessions.

Larimer has been immersed in Chamorro culture since 1996 and sees this festival as a culmination of his lifelong dedication. The Guam Visitors Bureau has supported the event, ensuring participation from businesses and dignitaries from Guam. This festival represents a significant milestone for the Chamorro people in the South Sound, promoting cultural awareness and unity.
