BIPOC Farmers Hub empowers growers
The Making A Difference Foundation (MADF) launched the BIPOC Farmer’s Hub in Tacoma to support BIPOC farmers and hunger relief efforts through essential business training and mentorship. Led by founder Ahndrea Blue, the program aims to empower participants to reach at least one million dollars in annual sales within the next two years. Currently, the hub serves over 25 farmers, providing training in business planning, marketing, food safety, and grant writing. Tera Williams and Keshia Ulibarri, participants in the program, are transitioning from managing community gardens to establishing their own farming operations to create opportunities for their children. Joy Promise, a recently retired chef, contributes her culinary expertise to the hub's mission.
The initiative began as a response to food distribution challenges during COVID-19, where farmers had food but lacked sales channels. The BIPOC Farmer’s Hub aims to build local economic resilience and cultivate future leaders in the agricultural sector. This project reflects a growing commitment to supporting BIPOC communities in achieving sustainable food security and business success.
