Pedestrian dies after being hit by four cars on I-705 in Tacoma, WA

A pedestrian died after being struck by four vehicles on I-705 in Tacoma late Tuesday night. The Washington State Patrol reported the crash occurred around 11:27 p. m. in the southbound lanes, just south of 11th Street. The pedestrian, whose identity remains undisclosed, was walking in lane one when the vehicles collided with him.

Following the incident, the first vehicle exited into a parking lot, while the subsequent vehicles stopped at gore points between highways. Authorities blocked the roadway for approximately four hours and 21 minutes to conduct their investigation. Investigators suspect drugs or alcohol may have been involved, but they have not provided additional details. The incident raises concerns about pedestrian safety on major highways. Local officials may need to review safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
