Humane Society waives dog adoption fees this week

Tacoma, WALocal News

The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County is waiving dog adoption fees from May 21 to May 25 to address capacity issues during kennel renovations. With 14 kennels out of service, the shelter has taken in 301 dogs since May 1, including a staggering 101 last week. Lauren Green, the organization’s marketing director, stressed the critical role of community support in animal welfare, encouraging families to adopt. The renovations, partly funded by the ASPCA and an anonymous donor, include upgrades to improve the living conditions for dogs with behavioral needs. Currently, 135 dogs are in the shelter and foster homes, with 55 available for adoption.

Each adopted dog comes with essential services, including vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery. The fee-waived event coincides with Memorial Day weekend, allowing families extra time to acclimate to their new pets. The Humane Society invites the community to visit its website for more information on available dogs and the adoption process.
