River Cats hit late grand slam to beat Rainiers 7-5

The Sacramento River Cats overcame the Tacoma Rainiers 7-5, with Marco Luciano delivering a pivotal grand slam in the seventh inning. After falling behind 3-0, Tacoma managed to tie the game in the fourth and briefly led in the sixth. The Rainiers showcased strong performances, including a solo home run from Samad Taylor in the ninth, but it was not enough to secure a win. Tacoma starter George Kirby, on a Major League rehab assignment, struck out two batters but was unable to maintain the lead. Casey Lawrence suffered the loss after allowing three earned runs in relief.

Notably, Cole Young extended his hitting streak to seven games, while Harry Ford's on-base streak reached 21 games. This game was attended by 7,014 fans at Cheney Stadium. Tacoma will face Sacramento again for the final game of the series on Sunday.
