Teen in custody for stabbing mother's boyfriend, Pierce County deputies say

Detectives with the Pierce County Sheriff's Office are investigating a homicide that occurred at the Coventry Court Apartments in Tacoma early Wednesday morning. At approximately 1:45 a. m. , deputies responded to a report of a stabbing where a 16-year-old boy allegedly stabbed his mother's boyfriend amid a domestic dispute. The injured boyfriend was transported to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities have taken the teen into custody, booking him into Remann Hall on suspicion of second-degree murder. This incident marks the 12th homicide in Pierce County this year, according to Deputy Carly Cappetto. Officials are working to gather more details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident. The local community has expressed concern over the rising number of homicides this year, prompting discussions about safety and domestic violence.
