Tacoma Historical Society presents Historic Homes Tour
Tacoma Historical Society revives its "Historic Homes Tour" on May 3-4, celebrating Tacoma's 150th anniversary. The event features six historic homes, including the Rust Mansion, which opens to the public for the first time, and First Presbyterian Church, marking its centennial. The Rust Mansion, built in 1905, boasts 18 rooms with intricate details, while First Presbyterian Church, designed by Ralph Adams Cram in 1925, is known for its large pipe organ. Additional homes on the tour include the Charles Hurley House, a Queen Anne style home famous for its role in a film, and the Franke Tobey Jones House, designed in Colonial Revival style. The Hoska House features a Federal Colonial design, and the Fitch and Achilles Houses, built in the late 1800s, showcase beautifully restored interiors.
This tour highlights Tacoma's rich architectural history and fosters community appreciation for local heritage. Ticketing and additional information are available at the end of the article.
