Tribute to Champions honors best in sports

The Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Museum and the Tacoma-Pierce Athletic Commission will host the 2025 Tribute to Champions on May 13, honoring local athletes and sports figures. The event will showcase honorees across various categories, including the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame inductees and recipients of the Connelly Law Offices Excellence in Officiating Award. Marc Blau, Chair of the Tribute to Champions Committee, stated that recognizing community contributions in athletics is vital. The event, emceed by KING 5's Chris Egan, will feature a non-alcoholic dessert social and two auctions to benefit the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Museum. Valuable auction items include tickets to Mariners and Sounders games, golf packages, and autographed memorabilia.

The Tribute to Champions also emphasizes the importance of sports in fostering community engagement and pride. This year's honorees reflect a broad spectrum of athletic achievement, from volleyball to broadcasting. The event serves to inspire future generations through the recognition of local sports figures.
