Scuba Jess brings recycling magic to youth

Tacoma, WALocal News

Celebrating Earth Month, the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound teamed up with Radius Recycling and Jessica Alexanderson, affectionately known as "Scuba Jess," to enhance environmental awareness and inspire local youth. The initiative encourages community members to participate in recycling efforts while raising funds for the Clubs throughout April. Alexanderson captivated the Club youth with her interactive presentations, which included storytelling, educational activities, and insights into marine conservation. The initiative features designated recycling bins at four Tacoma Clubs to collect clean tin and aluminum cans, with all proceeds donated back to the Clubs. This partnership aims to instill a sense of responsibility in children aged 6-18 regarding sustainability and environmental protection.

In addition, Radius Recycling will accept various recyclable metals, allowing community members to declutter while supporting a worthy cause. The excitement surrounding the initiative also includes friendly contests among Clubs for the most cans collected. This collaboration exemplifies the impact of local efforts in promoting recycling and fostering a cleaner environment.
