County holds spring urban tree sale

Tacoma, WALocal News

Pierce County Surface Water Management is excited to announce a Spring Urban Tree Sale, in collaboration with Pierce Conservation District, for residents of Tacoma, Puyallup, and unincorporated Pierce County. The program offers a variety of trees, each over 10 feet tall and available in five to seven gallon sizes, at discounted prices ranging from $10 to $30. Interested residents must place their orders by April 26, 2025, with a limit of three trees per property to promote equitable access. A virtual workshop will accompany the sale, providing valuable insights into the benefits of trees and practical planting instructions to ensure their success. It's crucial for participants to pick up their orders on designated dates; otherwise, unclaimed trees will be donated to urban forestry initiatives, with no refunds available.

Since its inception in 2013, the Urban Tree Sale has facilitated the planting of hundreds of trees, contributing to cleaner air, improved stormwater management, and enhanced neighborhood aesthetics. This program not only enriches urban spaces but also fosters a sense of community responsibility toward the environment. For those who miss the April deadline, this sale occurs biannually, providing additional opportunities for residents to engage in sustainable practices.
