Rainiers give up season-high 17 runs in loss to Sacramento

Tacoma, WALocal News

The Tacoma Rainiers faced a challenging defeat against the Sacramento River Cats, ending the game at 17-7 and marking their fifth loss in a row. Sacramento opened strong, scoring six runs in a dominant first inning, led by Grant McCray's contributions and Max Stassi's bases-clearing double. Tacoma's offense showed promise, particularly through Ben Williamson, who recorded four RBIs, including a two-RBI double that helped narrow the gap. Austin Shenton also made a mark with a three-run homer. However, the River Cats continued to extend their lead, with Marco Luciano's home run in the seventh inning underscoring their offensive prowess.

The Rainiers' pitching struggles were evident, culminating in a season-high 17 runs allowed. This performance ties the most runs given up in a single inning for Tacoma this season. As they prepare for a rematch, the Rainiers will aim to improve their defensive play and halt their losing streak.
