City selects developer for lot project

Tacoma, WALocal News

The City of Puyallup is poised to revitalize its downtown by redeveloping the Administrative Office Building (AOB) lot into a mixed-use facility that will offer new housing and retail opportunities. This strategic move is backed by Urban Olympia, the developer selected for the project, which was presented to the City Council during a recent meeting. The AOB lot's redevelopment has been a priority since 2008, supported by various plans, including the Comprehensive Plan and Downtown Economic Plan. The vision for downtown Puyallup is to create a vibrant area filled with activity, catering to shoppers, residents, and visitors. A public hearing and open house will be organized to discuss the project and gather community feedback, emphasizing the city's commitment to transparency and inclusivity in the planning process.

The city aims to convert underutilized public spaces, such as parking lots, into dynamic, transit-oriented developments. This redevelopment is a crucial step in fulfilling the goals outlined in the Comprehensive Plan and reflects ongoing efforts to enhance the downtown core. As the project unfolds, Puyallup's leaders hope to foster a thriving urban environment that meets the needs of its growing population.
