The Tacoma Rainiers made a remarkable start to their season, completing an opening series sweep against the Round Rock Express with a 5-2 victory at Cheney Stadium. Austin Shenton delivered a thrilling three-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth, captivating the crowd of 4,361 fans. The game began with Round Rock taking an early lead in the second inning, thanks to Trevor Hauver's run scored on an infield single by Sam Haggerty.
