South 21st Street in Tacoma to Close Starting Around March 26 for More Work on Prairie Line Trail Phase II

Tacoma, WALocal News

South 21st Street in Tacoma is set to close for six to eight weeks beginning around March 26 as part of the Prairie Line Trail Project's Phase II. This essential infrastructure initiative aims to enhance Tacoma's active transportation network, creating a seamless connection between the waterfront and downtown. Key elements of the project include trail construction, sanitary sewer improvements, concrete pavement installation, and roadway reconstruction. While this work is conducted, the nearby Interstate 705/State Route 509 interchange will remain accessible, with traffic redirected to ensure safety and ease of movement. Motorists are advised to adhere to posted detour signs guiding them to South 15th or South 25th streets.

The city encourages community engagement by providing real-time updates on the project through the city’s website and portable message signs. For any questions or concerns, residents can reach out to Project Manager Clara Dubow. This project represents a significant investment in Tacoma's infrastructure, promoting sustainable transportation options for residents and visitors alike.
