Tacoma, WALocal News

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is set to perform maintenance work that will result in daytime ramp closures on northbound Interstate 705 and under the State Route 509 interchange in Tacoma from March 24 to 28, 2025. The closures will occur daily between 8 AM and 3:30 PM, impacting local traffic flow. To facilitate this work, the City of Tacoma's Public Works crews will manage detour routes and conduct essential maintenance activities such as vegetation management, graffiti removal, and pavement repairs. WSDOT and city officials are advising drivers to seek alternate routes, travel outside peak hours, or postpone non-essential trips to minimize disruptions. Additionally, the City of Tacoma's Homeless Engagement Alternatives Liaison (HEAL) team will maintain outreach services in the area during the maintenance work.

This collaboration aims to ensure that community needs are met even as roadway improvements are underway. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about potential delays and changes in traffic patterns. Overall, this maintenance initiative is crucial for enhancing transportation infrastructure and community service in Tacoma.
