H-Barn restoration gains momentum

The H-Barn restoration project in Lakewood is moving forward with renewed momentum, thanks to significant financial pledges from Amazon and The Hokold Foundation. Amazon has committed $50,000, while The Hokold Foundation has pledged $200,000, reinforcing the community's commitment to preserving this historic site. The H-Barn, originally constructed in the 1920s as a milking parlor, is set to become a multi-functional event space, enhancing community engagement and connection. Dean Allsopp, Manager of Community Engagement for Amazon, emphasized the importance of this public-private partnership in preserving local history and creating a space for future memories. Partners for Parks, which includes various community organizations and businesses, has raised nearly $2.

7 million toward its ultimate goal of $3. 5 million for the renovation. The project officially began with a memorandum of understanding signed with the City of Lakewood, allowing for architectural and engineering services. The collaboration with Graham Baba Architects will ensure the H-Barn’s design aligns with community needs. This restoration effort not only preserves a cherished landmark but also symbolizes the community's dedication to improving local spaces.
