University of Puget Sound partnership broadens access to legal education

The University of Puget Sound has partnered with Seattle University School of Law to enhance legal education accessibility for aspiring lawyers in the South Sound region. This collaboration will provide significant academic programming, counseling, and networking opportunities for both Puget Sound undergraduates and Seattle U Law students enrolled in the innovative Flex JD hybrid-online degree program. An inaugural event featuring Washington Supreme Court Associate Chief Justice Charles W. Johnson will take place on March 26, marking the beginning of this partnership. Historically, Seattle U Law was founded as the University of Puget Sound School of Law, making this collaboration a reunion of sorts.

The partnership aims to reduce barriers to law school attendance, ultimately preparing future attorneys to serve the South Sound community. Students in the Flex JD program will benefit from enhanced access to library facilities, clinics, and externships, providing them with valuable real-world legal experience. Additionally, the initiative will enrich Puget Sound's campus life by offering public lectures, legal panels, and enhanced connections with the local legal community. This commitment to fostering a vibrant legal ecosystem underscores both universities' dedication to high-quality legal education and community engagement.
