Tacoma, WALocal News

The City Clerk's Office of Tacoma is calling for volunteers to join committees that will write statements "for" and "against" proposed Charter amendments, with letters of interest due by July 26, 2024. This initiative follows the adoption of resolutions by the City Council, which aims to enhance community engagement in local governance. Potential volunteers are asked to provide their full names, addresses, and reasons for their interest in participating in the committees. The statements prepared will be included in the Voters' Pamphlet, playing a crucial role in informing the electorate ahead of the elections. A special meeting of the Government Performance and Finance Committee to review applications is scheduled for July 29, 2024.

This meeting will be accessible in both in-person and remote formats, ensuring wider participation. By contributing to these committees, residents can influence the democratic process and ensure their perspectives are represented. This effort not only fosters civic involvement but also enhances transparency in local governance.
