Among the victims was 18-year-old Messiah Washington, who was shot in his apartment building, prompting an outpouring of grief and anger from neighbors. In an effort to foster healing, Tacoma Cease Fire organized a gathering for residents to express their feelings and discuss safety concerns. Attendees shared their worries about the ongoing investigation and the lack of apprehension of the suspects, highlighting the emotional toll on families and children living in the area. Community leaders, including Tacoma Police, reassured residents that they are diligently working on the case, with active leads that could lead to a resolution soon.

The event showcased the importance of community solidarity in times of crisis, as residents voiced their desire for a safer environment.
