Six finalists named for Park Board

Tacoma, WALocal News

The Parks Tacoma Board has named six finalists for its last vacancy, selected from 20 applicants, as part of its push to restore its five-member structure. The finalists represent a diverse range of expertise, including Sean Arent, a nuclear weapons abolition program manager, and cybersecurity consultant Azaria Azene. Interviews are underway this week, with the Board planning to announce its final selection on March 10. This vacancy arises after Rosie Ayala's election to the Pierce County Council, marking a significant change in Board dynamics. Since December, the Board has been working to fill three vacancies resulting from a retirement, a death, and a resignation.

Newly appointed members Alisa Lee and Carla Santorno have already joined the Board to replace former commissioners. Board meetings occur at 6 p. m. at Parks Tacoma's main office, ensuring transparency and community engagement. This proactive approach to leadership change highlights the Board's commitment to serving the Tacoma community effectively.
