Pothole Palooza Will Focus on the Maintenance and Preservation of 10 Arterial Roadways June 37

Tacoma, WALocal News

The City of Tacoma is set to host Pothole Palooza from June 3-7, 2024, focusing on the maintenance and preservation of ten arterial roadways across all five City Council districts. Mayor Victoria Woodards remarked on the importance of recognizing city employees who repair potholes, which serve as a visible indicator of road damage. Deputy Mayor John Hines noted that while the city's weather contributes to the formation of potholes, the Street Operations Division works diligently throughout the year to address roadway issues. During Pothole Palooza, traffic control measures will be implemented to ensure the safety of both workers and the public, with each work zone tailored to its specific needs. Residents are encouraged to report potholes through the Tacoma FIRST 311 Customer Support Center, which underscores the city’s dedication to community involvement in road maintenance.

The city will provide notice boards at work locations in advance to inform the public about upcoming repairs. Following the event, the Street Operations Division will continue its regular maintenance efforts to keep Tacoma's streets safe and smooth. More information, including a full schedule and frequently asked questions, can be found at the city's dedicated pothole webpage.
