The options include designing a covered skate park in downtown Tacoma, funding youth programming at the Tacoma Public Library, or upgrading the emergency shelter on Puyallup Avenue. Mayor Victoria Woodards underscored the significance of empowering residents through participatory budgeting, ensuring that funded projects align with community needs. District 2 Council Member Sarah Rumbaugh expressed her enthusiasm for the positive engagement seen during the process, especially the active participation of young people who contributed to shaping the proposals. This initiative aims to enhance civic engagement and foster a deeper connection between residents and local government.

Voting is open until September 20, 2024, with the implementation of the selected project set to begin in the fall.
